Mathematics - An approach to be mentally fit!

Students are always curious about how learning mathematics can help them achieve their goals in life even though they do not want to be a mathematician. The answer to this question lies in the answer to another question: "How does physical exercise help us if we are not going to be an athlete or pursue a career in a similar kind of field that demands high level physical fitness?"

Most of us may be aware of the answer to the later one: Doing regular physical exercise helps us maintain a fit and healthy physique that enables us to perform in many activities in day to day life in a swift and efficient way. Additionally, being physically fit contributes to many other important aspects like: getting a good night's rest, being more alert and active, having a positive outlook etc.
Similarly, with consistent efforts and regular practice of learning mathematics over a sufficient period of time may help us in improving the following mental characteristics:
Observation power
Analytical abilities
Logical reasoning
Memory
Imagination skills
The mental abilities listed above are the characteristics of mental health and they are an important factor in contributing to: one's decision making abilities, matured thinking, strong mental outlook etc. These attributes are vital in not only achieving success in one's profession but also plays a significant role in maintaining healthy relationships with people.
Therefore, practicing mathematics helps in gaining intellectual health!
